Well, this is it. Time to start, time to do, time to get off my bum and get on.
It’s been years since I’ve actively decided to change what I do, to make a difference, to do something better. Oh, I’ve had times when I’ve thought it’s a good idea to do something different, but it’s always come to nothing. Now, this time, I’m feeling more determined. I’ve finally come to a point where I’m willing to admit that I’m unhappy with what I’ve done, and that it needs to change.
So where am I? If I’m going to change, I need to recognise where I am now, and what I want to make different. So, here’s me:
I’m married, to a wonderful man called Matt, and I have two lovely children. A boy who is 2, and a girl who’s 7 months. I’m self-employed, working in website design and development. This is in a partnership with my Dad, we work together on the business. I’m also quite overweight, and I suffer from depression (diagnosed by a doctor, and I have anti-depressants). I feel like I don’t do anything in my life for me, and I have real trouble starting anything – I suffer from sever apathy due to my depression.
As you can see, I’ve got some good things in my life, and some things I don’t like and want to change. To be honest, the list of things I want to change or improve is quite long. However, I’m going to start small and do just a little at a time. As I’m sure you’ve guessed from the tagline of this site, one of the things I want to change is to do with my religion. I’ve been interested and a reader on paganism since I was a teenager, but I’ve done no real practice.
From here on out, my journey begins. I’ll update you at least once a week. I’ll let you know what I’m doing and planning on doing next. I’ll share what works, and what doesn’t. Book reviews will be forthcoming. While this will have a pagan focus, it is also going to cover other topics I find interesting, such as gaming and politics.I’ll also talk about family updates, household, diet, fitness and work.
My plan for the next week: start small. Each morning, after breakfast, write a list of jobs that I need to do that day. Tick them off when I’ve done them. I’ll also think about a time I can block off each day so I can meditate – or just have some quiet space for “me time”.
